Terms
Version beta-2026-09. Plain words, because you should be able to read them. If anything here is unclear, ask before you buy: hello@stovedetector.com.
What you are buying
A StoveDetector early unit, the price shown when you order, built by hand in a small batch. It watches your stove and sounds an alarm in the kitchen if the stove is left on with nobody near it, and it tells your phone through this website.
Ships within 3 weeks of ordering. If that slips you will hear from us, with the offer of a refund.
What it is not
- It is not a smoke alarm and does not replace one. Keep your smoke alarms working and keep testing them.
- It does not turn the stove off. It gets your attention; you decide what to do.
- It does not call 911 or any emergency service. Alerts go to the kitchen and to the people you add in the app, nobody else.
- It can miss, and it can alarm when it should not. It is an early unit and you should not rely on it alone to keep anyone safe.
- The alarm in the kitchen works without this website. If the internet is down, or this service is, the unit still sounds — you just cannot see it from your phone.
This is a beta
- Units are built by hand and change by software update while you own one.
- Your feedback shapes what changes. Reports you send are read by the person who builds them.
- Features can appear, change or be removed. The alarm in the kitchen is the part we will not quietly degrade.
Refunds and cancellation
- Before it ships: ask for a refund at any time, for any reason or none, and you get all of it back.
- If we are late: if your unit will not ship inside the window stated when you ordered, we write to you and you choose — wait, or take a full refund.
- After it arrives: if it does not suit your kitchen, write within 30 days and send it back for a refund. You do not need a reason.
- If it fails through no fault of yours within a year, we repair or replace it.
What we keep about you
- To sell you one: your name, email and shipping address. The payment itself is handled by Stripe — your card never touches this server.
- To run the app: your email address, and what your unit reports about your stove: temperatures, whether someone is near it, and its own health.
- There is no camera and no microphone. The unit cannot tell who is in the kitchen, only that someone is.
- Heat pictures are kept for a few days and then deleted. Reports you choose to send to support contain the last ten minutes of thermal images and the unit's log — sent only when you ask, only to whoever set the unit up, and never on their own.
- We do not sell your data and there are no advertising trackers on this site.
If something goes wrong
Write to hello@stovedetector.com. A person reads it — the same person who builds the units.
The legal minimum
StoveDetector is sold as an aid, not a safety device. To the extent the law allows, liability is limited to what you paid for the unit. Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live. These terms are governed by the law of Connecticut, USA.
