StoveDetector

Get an alert when you’ve left your stove unattended.

A small device in your kitchen watches the stove. If it is left on and nobody is there, it sounds an alarm at home and tells your phone — wherever you are.

Under the cabinet or on the backsplash, with the cord to the outlet. Drag to turn it.

How it works

Sketch: one StoveDetector unit mounted under the cabinet beside the stove, aimed toward the cooktop, with a cord to a duplex wall outlet.
It mounts under the cabinet, watches the cooktop, and plugs into a nearby outlet.
Close-up sketch of the unit: adhesive socket, ball joint, heat-sensor window and the USB-C cord to the adapter.
Close up: about 7 cm long, on a ball joint you aim once. The adapter and its 1.5 m cord are in the box.

Available in white or black.

On your phone

The same page from anywhere: what the stove is doing, and how long until it would sound.

The app's status card while cooking: Stove On, hottest spot 83°C, Motion No, alarm in 4 minutes 55 seconds, and a note that the countdown restarted because someone was at the stove.
The stove is on. The countdown restarts when motion is detected.
The live view: a coarse heat picture with one hot burner, and a graph of the hottest spot over the last 15 minutes crossing the dashed alarm-temperature line.
The heat picture and the last 15 minutes. A grid of warmth, not a camera.

What it is

What it is not

Not a smoke alarm, and no replacement for one. Keep yours.

The alarm at home does not depend on this website. The device sounds on its own, whether the internet is up or not.

No subscription
The website is part of the device, not a monthly bill.
No camera, no microphone
It reads heat as a coarse 32 by 24 grid: a hot burner, not a face.
No app store, no phone number
A link by email, and a page you keep on your home screen. iPhone and Android.

Anyone you invite can see the stove and silence an alarm.
